Privacy Policy

PagePup is a mobile app designed to support your child's reading practice. Your child's privacy is our highest priority. This document explains what data the app handles, where it lives, and how it is protected. The short version: everything stays on your device.

1. What the app stores (on your device only)

PagePup keeps only the minimum data needed for the app to function, and stores all of it locally on your iPhone or iPad:

• Your child's first name. The only identifier we ask for when you set up a family profile. We do not ask for last names, dates of birth, or photos.
• Reading session metrics. Number of words read, accuracy of pronunciation, words your child stumbled on, time spent.
• Usage preferences. Mascot name, theme selection, daily goal, voice preferences, and similar settings.

2. What we never collect

• Your child's voice. The microphone is analysed in real time, on-device. No audio file is ever stored, uploaded, or shared.
• Photos or camera footage. When you scan a page (single shot or Live OCR), the captured frame is processed locally and discarded immediately after the text is extracted.
• Location data. Never collected.
• Advertising identifiers. We do not connect to ad networks. We never request IDFA or similar tracking IDs.

3. Everything runs on-device

Speech recognition, word alignment, Live OCR, progress analysis, and the weekly summary — everything runs on your iPhone or iPad. On devices that support Apple Intelligence, even the language model runs on-device. PagePup has no server: your child's data is never uploaded anywhere, and the core reading experience works without an internet connection.

4. No accounts, no cloud

PagePup does not require an account and does not sync data to any cloud service. If you delete the app, its data is deleted with it. Before that, you can export a full copy of your data (JSON format) or wipe it permanently at any time from the Parent area.

5. Device permissions

• Microphone & speech recognition — listens while your child reads to light up words; processed on-device, never sent to any server.
• Camera / photo library — captures a book page for text detection; frames are processed on-device and discarded.
• Face ID — protects the Parent area on your device. Biometric data never leaves Apple's secure hardware.

6. Children's privacy (COPPA)

PagePup follows the principles of the U.S. COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) and the EU GDPR-K framework regarding children under 13:

• Parental consent is requested at first launch, before any child profile is created.
• We never ask the child for personal information (real name, phone, address).
• We use no third-party advertising networks and no analytics SDKs.
• The parental consent record (a timestamp) is stored on your device and is deleted along with your data.

7. Third-party services

PagePup communicates with exactly one category of external service:

• Apple App Store / RevenueCat: PagePup PRO purchases are processed by Apple and validated through RevenueCat using an anonymous, randomly generated identifier. No name, email, or child data is attached to it, and it is not used for tracking.

8. Data retention

All reading data lives on your device and is retained until you delete it. Nothing is stored on our side — there is no "our side."

9. Your rights

All of the following are available inside the app's Parent area:

• Export your data (Export My Data — JSON format)
• Delete all data (Delete My Data)
• Manage notification preferences
• Cancel your subscription (via the App Store)

10. Updates to this policy

We update this policy when there's a material change. The update date appears at the top of this page; you'll also see an in-app notification at the next launch.
